The Naked Truth (bden pa gcer bu)

by Gendün Chöpel (dge ‘dun chos ‘phel, 1903-1951)

Translated from the Tibetan by Erick Tsiknopoulos

The naked truth, terrifying to behold,

Should never be covered with the garb of self-deception.

This is the first sacred vow of the scholar:

So strive to keep it with diligence; even at the cost of your life.

(Translated from the Tibetan by Erick Tsiknopoulos, November 8th, 2012; revised exactly five years later on November 8th, 2017.)
