Ju Mipham Rinpoche on the Dhāraṇī called ‘Golden’ from the Sūtra of Golden Light

NAMO RATNA TRAYĀYA/ KUTI KUTINI/ IMIRITO KOSHANI/ IMARINI IRI SVĀHĀ

If this Dhāraṇī known as ‘Golden’ taught in the Exalted Sūtra of Golden Light [‘phags pa gser ‘od dam pa’i mdo, but only in the 29 and 31 chapter versions and not the 21 chapter version] is recited, positive potential will increase tremendously, and thereby food, clothing, and precious substances will be attained, freedom from sickness, long life, and whatever is imagined and hoped for will be accomplished according to one’s wish, roots of virtue will be generated under infinite Buddhas, one will be protected by the Bodhisattvas until [the attainment of] Buddhahood, be predicted as [becoming] a Buddha [in the future], and further it is of supremely great benefit to do the activity ritual by reciting eighty thousand [of the Dhāraṇī] as taught [in the Sūtra of Golden Light].

  1. Hi!
In this quoting of the respected mantra there is a word IMARINI, and in another translation of yours (in the Sutra of Golden Light), this word is rendered as IMIRINI, so it is I instead of A or A instead of I. Which one is correct?
    Thank you

    1. Imirini is the correct one, to empower or strengthen the dharani you rather recite it for 108’000 times and afterwards you must recite it for 3-108 times a day, if you skip a day, the dharani you strengthened will become less powerful therefore your wishes will be incomplete. One important thing is that you have to have a teacher (preferably Buddhist ) who knows the dharani and all rituals and he will pass it to you if he approved you. We call this process as “taking a Lun” and you may know all of them.
