YANG-TRÜL CHHOK GI NYI-ZHÖN NYUR JÖN SÖL

I pray that the youthful sun of your supreme rebirth may swiftly arrive.

NANG-DU JANG-SEM ZHEN-DÖN KHO-NAR ZHÖL

Inwardly, you strove only for the benefit of others with bodhichitta,

SANG-WAR RIM NYII CHHOK GI NELN-JOR GYII

Secretly, with the yoga of the supreme two stages,

YONG-RAK GYEL-TEN PEL-WAY NYEN DU JÖN

You came as a friend who spread the Victor’s teachings in all their breadth and texture.

CHHAY-PAY LO-SEL NA-WAY CHÜ-LEN CHING

Through explanation, you extracted the vital essence for the ears of those with clear intellect,

TSÖ-PAY LOK-TOK DRAK-RI CHHE-MAR LAK

Through debate, you crushed to dust the craggy mountain of wrong concepts,

TSOM-PAY TS’HANG-S’AY MI-M’A YING SU NYEL

Through composition, you laid the brāhmins and rishis to rest in basic space:

YANG-TRÜL GYEL-TEN PEL DU NYUR JÖN DZÖ

May you soon be reborn for the glory of the Victor’s teachings.

ZHUNG-LUK GYAM-TS’HOR T’HÖ-PAY P’HA-T’HAR SÖN

By studying the ocean of scriptural traditions, you crossed to the far shore,

MA-LÜ SHEY-JAR SAM-PAY DRON-DOK CHAY

By contemplating all objects of knowledge without exception, you cut through conceptual superimposition,

CHAY-PAY DÖN NAM GOM-PAY NYAM-SU-LEN

By meditating on subjects with analysis, you practiced:

CHHOK-TRÜL TEN-DRO’I PEL DU NYUR JÖN SHOK

May your supreme emanation swiftly come for the glory of the Teachings and beings.

GYEL-TEN CHI DANG DÜ-KYI-KHOR-LO YI

The general teachings of the Victor, the ripening empowerments of the Kālachakra,

MIN-JEY WANG DANG GYÜ DREL SHAY-PA DANG

The explanations of the tantras and their commentaries,

DRÖL-JEY JOR-WA DRUK GI NYAM-T’HRI SOK

The practice instructions on the six liberating unions and so on:

CHI-GÖ TEN-PAY PEL DU NYUR JÖN DZÖ

Please swiftly come as the glory of the Teachings, both general and specific.

TEN-CHING-DREL-JUNG NAM-PAR-DAK-PA DANG

Through utterly pure dependent origination,

LU-MEY CHHOK SUM DAM-PAY JIN-LAP DANG

The sublime blessings of the infallible Three Supreme Ones7,

TEN-S’UNG MAK-ZOR GYEL-MO’I T’HRIN-LAY KYII

And the awakened activity of Queen Shrī Devī8, protectress of the Teachings,

MÖN-PAY DÖN-NAM GEK-MEY NYUR DRUP SHOK

May the aim of these aspirations be swiftly accomplished without hindrance!

And thus, due to the earnest request of all the faithful students who had a connection with him that there was a need for a prayer for the swift rebirth of Khalkha Jetsün Dampa Rinpoche, Jampel Namdröl Chökyi Gyeltsen Zangpo, who recently passed into peace, from those at the principal Jonang monastery and all secondary Jonangpa religious institutions, the Gomang College of Drepung Monastery, Ganden Monastery in Mongolia, the Samlo quarters of Sera Je Monastery, the lamas’ quarters at Ganden Monastery and so forth, and for myself as well, who knew this Sublime Being since I was ten years old, as I later recollected the wishes of these determined, responsible, and altruistic practitioners of the general and particular intentions of the Teachings, I, the Dharma friend of this Sublime One, the Shākya shramaa and Dharma exponent, the Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso, composed a prayer of entreaty in powerful terms, in the Water Dragon Year of the 17th Rabjung cycle, in the 1st month and on the 12th day, being the the 5th day of the 3rd month of the year 2012 [March 5th, 2012] by the Western calendar.
